I understand that poverty and hunger can be directly linked to crime.  "Arresting Hunger Together" is the motto behind  the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula Golf Tournament hosted by the Newport News Sheriff's Office. 

All proceeds from the May 6 tournament held at Kiln Creek Golf Club will benefit the Foodbank's Capital Campaign.

The Foodbank is building a brand new facility which will expand its power to house and distribute food, and to reach children with its after-school meal programs. Fundraising efforts continue to pay for the complete project.
