Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan was invited to speak on the panel at the May 7, 2009 Youth PROMISE Act forum. The Prison Reduction through Opportunities, Mentoring, Intervention, Support and Education Act is legislation that supports evidence-based intervention and treatment that have been shown to reduce youth crime and delinquency.

Morgan rubbed elbows with Hollywood entertainers, including Goldie Hawn. They attended the screening of the film, "Crips & Bloods: Made in America.
