People to People, an organization that works on race relations in Newport News, presented their highest honor, the HERO Award, to Sheriff Gabe Morgan in front of a packed concert hall at the Ferguson Center for the Arts on April 27, 2009. Click here to read Magazine article.

• Ramey and Price said of Sheriff Gabe Morgan, "Sheriff Morgan voices the higher vision for the City. He sees a future where young people are not left out because they are poor or because of where they live. He sees a future where neighborhoods are re-claimed from gangs."



• Sheriff Morgan is congratulated by an audience member. The HERO Award was given prior to the performance of the off-Broadway play "Our Young Black Men are Dying and Nobody Seems to Care."
