Hello, and welcome to my Campaign Web Site!
Dear Fellow Citizens of Newport News,
I just want to say 'thank you.' There is no other expression in the English language that expresses sincere gratitude like those two simple words. So to all of you for your support, I wish to share my heartfelt thanks.
Campaigns are never easy. We want politics to be about ideas and platforms. We ran a positive contest without tearing others down. The level of dignity in which we ran our campaign should make all of us proud. We prevailed, and the citizens responded in a big way. This was a great victory. Thank you to the people of Newport News for your overwhelming vote of confidence. Each day that I continue to hold office, you will get the best I have to offer as the leader of the Newport News Sheriff's Office.
Remember, while my name was on the ballot, I am standing on the shoulders of the deputies and staff whose dedication makes me proud. Folks see us working hard and they believe in what we have done over the last eight years. They recognize that the City of Newport News is better because of the changes and improvements we have made. Not only have the voters indicated with this win that they approve of what we have accomplished, but they also have expectations of what we will continue to do in the future.
I have said many times, I am a person who makes good on his promises. And I promise to continue to move this agency forward in a way that helps all citizens of Newport News.
To my opponents, this hard contest is now behind us. I have heard from Pricillia Burnett who congratulated me and our campaign on our win. Chris Wells on his Facebook page congratulated me and extended his well wishes for the next four years. Thanks to each of them for putting the matters of the City first.
Collectively and individually, I offer my sincere gratitude to those who came through for me and propelled me into a third term as Sheriff of Newport News. I have gone to every corner of this fine City of ours and met with people and listened to their concerns. What matters to you, matters to me. What drives me is our shared conviction as fellow citizens of Newport News. I will continue work collaboratively with local and state stakeholders, all of whom have an interest in making the City safer. The goal of always improving our future also falls on the faith-based community, community organizations, and individual citizens. Naturally I intend on maintaining those essential relationships to ensure we attain our mutual aspirations.
I would be remiss if I did not mention one incredibly special person in my life. My mother. My mom scarified a lot to see to it that each of her children had opportunities to do their very best. Everything I do and hope to be is because of her sacrifice. Mom, I want you to know that those sacrifices were not in vein.
One thing that is clear from this victory, citizens like what has been accomplished thus far. You have my word that I will continue to build a record of good works and positive changes.
Sincerely,Gabriel A. "Gabe" Morgan
Sheriff, City of Newport News
